The Dubai Shopping Festival, the biggest shopping and entertainment extravaganza in the Middle East, kicked-off Dubai’s events calendar in the year 2014 with a wide range of events, activities and promotions that brought to the forefront the world famous festival’s charm of offering a rewarding shopping experience in an entertaining yet relaxed ambience.

The 19th edition of DSF gave visitors from around the world many mind-boggling and life-changing moments in line with the festival theme “Shop at your Best”. Among the major attractions for shoppers is that over a period of 32 days, DSF 2014 gave away over US $ 27 million worth of prizes including luxury cars, gold and cash.

These digital (IT) closets have been set up in Dubai Mall and Deira City Centre to make finding the IT look easy and accessible for all. Inside this virtual closet, a wide range of this season’s hottest trends in fashion clothing and accessories can be discovered. Shoppers can then be redirected to retailers to complete their new look for the season.

The Cocoon was a makeover experience presented by DSF with Paris Gallery. Participants had the opportunity to transform their looks, thanks to a team of professional hair, make-up and nail stylists dedicated to making each participant feel and look more beautiful. A before and after picture were taken by a professional photographer to complete the makeover experience.

Inspired by an actual cocoon, where caterpillars are transformed into butterflies, the space is round-shaped and made out of ropes that wrap around the structure in a non-orderly fashion.

The Cocoon was a required destination for anyone looking for a fresh and beautiful start to the Year 2014.

Market OTB (Outside The Box) caters to non-mass produced sustainable fashion and lifestyle brands. The Market OTB aimed to give Emirati and regional retailers and designers the opportunity to showcase and sell their products.

In line with the mission of Expo2020 Dubai to reduce waste and conserve finite resources, Market OTB used refurbished shipping containers to house sustainable Middle Eastern retail and lifestyle brands.

Retail stores, cafes, and food kiosks, among other things, were featured inside containers, using a popular green concept already present in places like New York and London, and being introduced in Dubai for the first time.
