Sharjah Ladies Club 30th Anniversary
From SLC beginning in 1982, their commitment has always been to providing a safe haven for women. Everything here has been considered for wellbeing and to simply help ladies unwind.
SLC founder and chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, wanted to create a centre that would serve the community and touch the lives of everyone in it.
This vision included helping shape the youth of the country. SLC crowning moment came when the National Olympic Committee honoured the Club with a ‘Diploma of Achievement’ for providing Emirati women with the only comprehensive sports complex in the country.
Since SLC early beginnings, the club has undergone a dramatic transformation to become one of the most exclusive health and leisure clubs in the UAE.

Pi Slice, a microfinance crowdfunding platform for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), has been officially launched in partnership with European microcredit platform MicroWorld.org – a subsidiary of the PlaNet Finance Group. The web portal allows individuals and corporations in the region to lend to MENA-based microfinance institutions (MFIs), and in turn, fund projects and micro-entrepreneurs supported by the MFIs.
“The MENA region is home for 270 million people – 26% with less than $2 a day; that’s around 90 million people,” says Genny Ghanimeh, CEO of Dubai-based Pi Slice. “Six million households are eligible for microfinance loans but only half of them have access to available funding, which leaves us with $3.5 billion in growth loan portfolio” – a gap the company is trying to bridge.

Dubai: A new school following a unique tri-lingual twin-track programme incorporating the best of International Baccalaureate and French curriculums will be opening its doors to students this September (2013).
The International Concept for Education (ICE), located within the Meydan complex in Nad Al Sheba, was officially inaugurated yesterday.
The school will offer education in English according to pedagogic principles set down in IB curriculum and in French following curricula of the Ministry of Education in France.
ICE has a distinctive approach to education incorporating cultural values, etiquette, motivation, art, nutrition and sport.
